Eating on the Go

When creating a lifestyle change, it's important to practice moderation and good eating habits wherever you go. Here are some easy ways to eat healthfully on the go:

Fast food

  • Salads with low-fat salad dressings

  • Multigrain sandwiches or wraps filled with lean meat, salad &/or fish (hold the mayo or special sauce)

  • A plain hamburger (don’t be tempted to “ upsize”). If you're unsure, just ask to see the nutrition information. Most fast-food restaurants have it posted or readily available to customers

  • Sushi

  • A low fat smoothie

  • Fruit Salad

For kids and busy families

  • Involve your children in packing their lunch boxes with nutritious choices like sandwiches, carrot sticks, celery sticks filled with a little peanut butter or low fat cream  or cottage cheese, and fresh or dried fruit, nuts and low fat yogurt. Offer cookies, lollies, and chips in moderation and in small serves.

  • If you know you'll be getting home late from the office or the kids' soccer game, try making your evening meal the night before and refrigerating it. Or, make up meals in bulk and freeze them. For great Quick and Easy recipe ideas from Campbell's® Kitchen, click here.

  • If you're short on time to make dinner, go for a quick and healthy soup and sandwich combo are ideal.

  • If using ready made meals, opt for the lower fat choices.

  • Make sure you start your day with breakfast. On busy mornings try V8 Fruit and Vegetable juice, a bowl of high-fibre breakfast cereal, a piece of fruit, yoghurt or a smoothie.

Convenience stores

There are usually some nutritious snacks available in convenience stores.

  • In the beverage aisle, choose V8 Vegetable juice or V8 Fruit and Vegetable juice.

  • Most convenience stores sell fresh fruit and yogurt, which are great lower-fat options.

  • Grab a sandwich or single serve of soup.  A great idea is Campbell’s Microwavable Country Ladle or Chunky soups, all you need is a microwave and a spoon.
